Le Righicams sono collocate sulle alture di Genova, quartiere di Castelletto - Righi. Sono a circa 279 metri di altezza sul mare, quella di ponente è operativa dal gennaio 2005, quella di levante dal marzo 2006, la Righicam 3 - centro dal 31 marzo 2007. Dalle Righicam la vista arriva, sul mare, fino a 63 km di distanza. Le Alpi che si vedono nelle giornate migliori invece sono a circa 110 km di distanza. Righicams are located in Genoa, - Italy at approx 279 meters ( 921 ft.) above sea level. The Western webcam has been operating since january 2005, the eastern cam since march 2006, the third one since march 31st 2007. The view from the Righicam stretches upon the sea up to 63 km (35 nautic miles). The Alps that you can see in clear days are approx. 110 km far away. (61 nautic miles) La Righicam 1 - Ponente punta verso ovest-sud-ovest. La Righicam 2 - Levante punta verso est sudest. La Righicam 3 - Centro punta verso sud. Le Righicam hanno obiettivi che coprono un angolo orizzontale di circa 45 gradi Righicam 1 looks west - south-west, Righicam 2 looks east - south east, Righicam 3 looks SOUTH.  Lenses display a view ranging 45 degrees wide.   Le 3 righicam sono costruite dalla tedesca Mobotix (www.mobotix.com) e sono due modelli M12-WEB ed un modello M22-SEC The three webcams are made by german Mobotix, 2 models are M12 and one M22. La Righicam 1 - Ponente  inquadra parte del "centro storico" con il porto traghetti, poi verso ovest la Lanterna, parte del porto commerciale e poi la Riviera di Ponente con le città di Savona e dunque le Alpi Marittime al confine con la Francia. Righicam 1 - west  shows the old harbour, the old lighthouse, then the new commercial port, then the western Riviera with the town of Savona, the Appennini mountains then the Alps bordering with France.      La Righicam 2 - Levante  riprende i quartieri di levante fino al monte Moro con le case di Quarto e Quinto, il Monte Fasce (835 mslm). In lontananza si vede il promontorio di Portofino. Righicam 2 - East  shows the eastern sections of Genoa, down to Quarto and Quinto,  Mt. Moro and Mt Fasce, 835 meters on sea level (2,755 ft). 15 miles away you'll see the Portofino peninsula (the village of Portofino is on the other side though).     La Righicam 3 - Centro  riprende i quartieri del centro cittadino. Ai lati della foto ci sono un Leccio (a sinistra) ed un Ippocastano (a destra) Righicam 3 shows the midtown sections of Genoa including the Theatre district and the very center spots, squares and streets. Picture shows an Olm Oak on the left inside and a Common Horse-chestnut on the right.     La bandierina punta nella direzione opposta rispetto a dove viene il vento. I venti dominanti a Genova sono la Tramontana e lo Scirocco, segue il Libeccio, rari gli altri. Bisogna considerare che la bandierina NON è nella posizione ottimale. Anzi è in una posizione che risente di oscillazioni dovute a raffiche che possono far ruotare temporaneamente la stessa anche di 180 gradi; se la foto viene scattata in quel momento la lettura del vento potrebbe essere totalmente sbagliata. When the red flag points right (as shown in the snapshot above) it is because the wind is from N-NE, while if the flag is on the left it means wind is blowing from SOUTH. Please be aware that this windmarker is installed in an unproper position, wind blowing with strong gusts can turn around the flag momentarlily even by 180 degrees, if snapshot is taken in that very moment, it can show wrong information.
